An audio trails app (with changing seasonal content) that guides visitors and locals around the growing woodlands of a charity committed to helping reverse centuries of woodland decline in England.
“We are looking to set up some audio trails here in the Forest. These will be our first ever audio trails and so we are looking for some advice and costings please.” This is far from an uncommon email that we regularly receive and we were delighted to be able to guide the Heart of England Forest through the process of creating an app and its associated content.
We (AT Creative*) wrote and produced content for three very different audio trails:
- A short family trail at Morgrove Coppice that takes visitors along an accessible route
- A trail introducing listeners to the charities founder, Felix Dennis
- A habitat trail that introduces visitors to some of the different forest habitats and the benefits they bring to the environment, wildlife and people
The trails have a spring/summer and autumn/winter version that is switched at the appropriate time each year. For example, during the summer the audio highlights some of the migratory visitors to the woodland, whilst the winter version encourages a closer look at the trees bark and buds.
We hadn’t worked on audio trails before, so were very glad to find AT Creative. Dan guided us through the whole process from start to finish, and made something that was very daunting in the beginning a joy to work on. He was always on hand to offer advice and guidance and explained everything very clearly. We have ended up with three fantastic trails which are enhancing time spent in the Forest for our visitors – exactly what we were aiming for. I can’t recommend AT Creative highly enough.Laura Diep, Marketing and Communication Manager, Heart of England Forest
